During prohibition, the small enclave of Hamtramck was so brazenly flaunted the nationwide liquor ban that the Michigan State Police were sent in to take over law enforcement operations. Moonshine operations were still being uncovered into the 1960s. That's a fun way of saying the Hamtramck Historical Museum—now undergoing renovations—is a good place to learn of HamTown's liquor lore. [Hamtramck Review]
