McArson? Former University Club Could Become McDonald's

New, 7 comments

The former University Club might soon become Detroit's 29th McDonalds restaurant with a possible retail space next door, reports Motor City Muckraker. Once among the city's more elegant bits of architecture, a suspicious fire grilled the club over the summer. The crispy remains were finally demolished last weekend. The club's last few years were a flurry of scrapping and theft, as owner Albert Ammori—who also owns the liquor store across the street—essentially ignored the building after buying it for $600,000 in 2010. Check out Motor City Muckraker for the McDonalds site plan, a thrilling bit of design.
