Five Levels of Apartments Proposed Atop Downtown Garage

New, 20 comments

Apartments atop a parking garage—is there anything more Detroit than that? The Roxbury Group has revived a long-dead plan to stack 80 apartments above the 10-story parking deck adjacent to the Book Cadillac Hotel, reports DBusiness:

The plan includes the construction of a five-level addition with open floor plans and the completion of a dedicated elevator offering access to on-site parking, retail offerings, and the hotel. Known as The Griswold, the development was originally floated in 2007 before being squashed by the Great Recession. If approved, Roxbury estimates construction would take 12-18 months. Note: The above rendering appears to be from the 2007 plan. The new rendering is visible at Roxbury's website.
