Wayne State's Outdated Student Center Heads for Renovation

New, 12 comments

Wayne State's old Student Center is finally getting a well-deserved, $18M renovation. According to The South End, work will start this spring to renovate the lower level up to the third floor:

The first floor is getting new lounges on both the south and north sides of the building with almost 9,000 square feet of new dining areas. There are also plans for a brand new convenience store on the first floor, with a built in "spirit" store, according to design plans. Designed by Neumann/Smith, the renovations will add plenty of windows to the boxy, 1960s architecture. The work is just a small chunk of WSU's overall development plan, which has the school completing $170M in new construction and renovation projects by 2015.
