Once Cheerfully Yellow, Metropole Building Goes Brown

New, 9 comments

Like the Claridge House apartments, the Metropole Building has exchanged its yellow hue for brown. Before the browning, the Metropole was a light yellow with turquoise accents, giving our grey/brown downtown a rare flash of color. Weirdly enough, Dan Gilbert—king of overwhelmingly cheerful colors—bought the building earlier this year.
It would appear, however, that Gilbert isn't happy with his chosen shade of brown. Several windows are outlined with alternative browns, and the codes/brands taped to the windows reveal that Ferret Brown and Rookwood Medium and Dark Brown (Sherwin Williams) are possible alternatives.
