After a soft opening on Monday , Detroit Institute of Bagels finally opens up tomorrow at 7am. For Corktown's long-awaited bagel joint, the opening caps over a year of dramatic transformation. Their sad, box-like structure was renovated, expanded, and punctured with several new window holes. DIB really has been a cool project to watch, especially with all the progress made this year (look at last year's holiday photo). Also, if you like historic photos, DIB has one of the most interesting histories of any unassuming storefront you'll ever see. If you're not too hungover to leave your bed tomorrow morning, start Thanksgiving with a bagel. We guarantee it'll be more satisfying than watching the parade.
