Giant Former Home of Casino Executive Don H. Barden Is Listed

New, 20 comments

Notable businessman Don Barden, who passed away in Detroit in 2011, had a rather gigantic home and now it can be yours for a mere $500K. The 7,700 square footer was just listed, sans interior photos. It promises six bedrooms, four full bathrooms and two half bathrooms, an in-ground Olympic sized pool, a grand staircase, and a sun room. If anyone decides to go for a tour, please send along more photos to the tipline! Apparently, there was an estate sale at the home just last month, which CBS called a glimpse into a "lavish lifestyle."
In 2010, the magazine Black Enterprise ranked Barden Companies as the 10th-highest-grossing black-owned company, with $405 million in revenue. However, Barden never won the rights to develop a casino in Detroit, despite a plan to partner with Michael Jackson on the project. He did, however, become the first black owner of a Las Vegas casino, and sold a business to Comcast for more than $100 million.
