If there's one thing we know about Detroit's old carriage houses, it's that they can often be converted into some impressive apartments. Tucked in the alleyway between Peterboro and Charlotte in Midtown, this inconspicuous garage holds one of the best spaces we've seen. At 1,200 square feet, the interior looks equal parts loft and carriage house. There's a lofted bedroom, original wood floors, and ceilings that follow the roofline. Perks include a washer/dryer, a "secret garden," and a private two-car garage below. Rent: $1,380.
