Roof of Packard Plant Building Didn't Collapse, It Vanished

New, 6 comments

Anarchy continues at the Packard Plant, where photos by dETROITfUNK appear to show that Building Five's roof—recently reported to have collapsed—is simply not there anymore. We assumed that the collapse was due to fire damage or small amounts of scrapping slowly weakening the structure, but it's looking like scrappers have actually stolen a large portion of the structure's metal roof. Scrappers have been slowly and brazenly demolishing the complex on their own for years, as an estimated $20M price tag on a legal demolition keeps the city from taking action.
