If you've been anxiously awaiting the return of the Crowne Plaza Pontchartrain (that's the official name now), we have good news: Downtown's back-from-the-dead hotel will house guests starting June 15, starting at $169 (plus tax) on opening night. It's unclear whether June 15 is the grand opening date or there will be some sort of soft opening prior to that. Either way, we're told only a few rooms are left for inaugural night, so enthusiasts best make their reservations soon.

The Pontch is close to coming online after enjoying $5M in upgrades. Five mill might come off as pocket change when talking high-rise renovations, but keep in mind—the Pontch has only been vacant since '09, and it was shuttered due to the Great Recession, poor management, and a Baptist conference-ruining faulty cooling system—it didn't exactly make it to ruin porn status. It'll be interesting to see how well the Crowne Plaza people have stretched their small allowance. While the infamous Top of the Pontch restaurant/party spot won't be open (owners hope to have that online in the future) the Jefferson House restaurant will be serving serving food and drink from 6AM to 11PM.
