College Town Detroit

Major state universities looking to establish footholds in Detroit certainly aren't skimping on the real estate. While the University of Michigan and Michigan State have already claimed prominent Woodward Avenue frontage in Midtown, Grand Valley State and Central Michigan University are heading farther down Woodward. CMU went all the way to Campus Martius, dropping hundreds of thousands on a seven-year lease in One Kennedy Square. Not to be outdone, Grand Valley State spent $3M purchasing the Barden Building on Madison Avenue near Comerica Park. [Crain's, Model D]
