Hints of Improvement at the Windowless Roosevelt Hotel?

New, 14 comments

Just across the street from Michigan Central Station, the long-dormant Roosevelt Hotel has seen increased activity in recent months. Workers were again on site yesterday, and the Roosevelt's window holes appear to have newer wooden frames. What looked like new PVC pipe and possibly framing was also evident from the street, but it was impossible to be sure. Because everything in Detroit has to be a sneaky secret, the workers were not keen on chatting. Owner Dennis Kefallinos isn't exaclty known for his preservation work (the original windows were removed under his ownership), but he is a savvy property buyer. As far as we know, he's still trying to flip the property, listing it at $495,000 after buying it for just $37,500 in 2010.
