According to people that judge design competitions, the former site of Hudson's Department store should look like this design from two people in Rome, Italy. The "MINICITY Detroit" concept is getting $15,000 for taking first place in the Opportunity Detroit design contest run by Dan Gilbert's Rock Ventures (Gilbert hold the development rights to the site). Now what? The goal of the competition was to generate discussion, but the idea won't necessarily be used. So discuss away dear readers, and then have a look after the jump at the design that the public voted as favorite (it gets a $2,500 prize). Deadline Detroit has more on the other designs that took second and third place cash awards.
The public liked this design from Emilie M. Rottman and James G. Ramil in Washington D.C. the most. There were 200 submissions total.
