Gilbert Gobbles Two More Historic Storefronts Near Foran's

New, 18 comments

Two more buildings near Campus Martius have met the same fate as so many of their neighbors: purchase by Dan Gilbert. Here's what Gilbert grabbed: 20,000 square feet spread over two(ish) historic commercial properties on Woodward. Originally five buildings, the two addresses are really for one continuous building with separate storefronts downstairs. Confusing, right? The name isn't any easier -- some call it the Mabley and Company building (after the Mabley and Co department store, which it once housed), while some office space listings call it the Metropole. Whether the top floors go office or residential, the lucky occupants will be tantalizingly close to Foran's Grand Trunk Pub.
