Revealed yesterday afternoon, the framework for the new Arena District makes mention of three major building renovations -- the Detroit Life building, the Blenheim Apartments, and an office building at 1922 Cass Avenue. That's all great news (and we'll take a closer look at those buildings soon) but a couple Ilitch-owned towers were conspicuously absent: the Hotel Eddystone and the Park Avenue Hotel. Built in the '20s, both buildings were destined for a luxury condo conversion in the mid-2000s that never came through. Many were hoping to see them somehow integrated into the new arena complex. As new details emerge, we'll have our fingers crossed that the future has a place for two of the last pieces of what used to be Detroit's fancy Hotel District.
