Detroit's Hong Kong is Ready to Begin Shooting Transformers

The cinematic masterpiece of Transformers 4: Dark of the Moon begins two weeks of filming in Detroit today, where they've set up an incredible outdoor set smack in the middle of downtown, between Bagley and Washington. The set is meant to mimic a badly damaged Hong Kong, which is the site of some sort of robotic battle. Beyond potential Mark Wahlberg sitings, the second-best part of Transformers being downtown is that our zippy little People Mover goes right over top the set. For the $0.75 fare, you'll get an unbeatable view of an overturned subway car, the Michigan and United Arts Buildings adorned in bamboo, and perhaps even a little bit of Marky Mark himself.
