The Abandoned Highland Park Plant: A Tourist Destination?

New, 20 comments

The Woodward Avenue Action Association (WA3) has offered $550K for a chunk of the Kahn-designed Model T Plant, which you've undoubtedly noticed mouldering away next to that horrendous shopping mall in Highland Park. This is the spot where Henry Ford first initiated the assembly line, so the WA3's goal of creating a tourist attraction makes sense. The organization is $125K short of the $550K they offered for the complex, so we're in another one of those nonsensical "We have ____ days to crowd-source a zillion dollars or it's over" situations. Should WA3 successfully raise the dough, they're definitely getting their money's worth: 448,000 square feet covering four floors of factory space, an "executive garage," and some acreage outside for parking.
