Detroit's Rather Awesome Abandoned Cycling Track

One of on Detroit's over-grown fields on the east side used to be a track for cyclists training for the national championships and the Olympics. The Velodrome, a steeply banked oval track, opened in 1969 and was officially known as the Dorais Velodrome. According to Detroit 2020, it was eventually done by illegal car racing whic buckled the track and was abandoned for 20 years.
