Detroit, meet Chum, the "big cat" that's been terrifying some residents in northeast Detroit. He is—ahem, was—a Savannah Cat, a perfectly legal cross between an African Serval and a domestic cat. In short, a harmless pet who escaped his home a few weeks ago. Chum was gunned down by a resident after his large tail and exotic-looking markings snowballed into reports that a 4'-tall cat was stalking humans. [Freep]
