Detroit can expect 600 new hotel rooms to open downtown between now and 2015, says the Detroit News dramatically (they decided the Pontchartrain Hotel's 371 rooms have not "officially" opened yet, though they've been open all summer). Those new beds, combined with a renovated Cobo Center and an updated RenCen Marriott, could push Detroit into the top tier of convention destinations. [Det News]
