Parking Problems

New, 6 comments

The city of Detroit's nine parking garages, two surface lots, and 3,404 metered parking spaces might be sold off or leased to a private company in order to pay off debt. Despite operating in a city with almost no alternatives to driving and parking downtown, the Detroit Municipal Parking Department is still projected to LOSE $6.1M this year. Regardless of who's writing the tickets, expect the rates (which are among the cheapest in the country) to begin climbing soon. [Det News]
