CORRECTION: We originally said that tomorrow (9-13) is the last day to register for the entire tax auction. That's incorrect. Tomorrow is the deadline to register for the first round of the tax auction. The October 5th auction (where the back taxes are dropped) has its own, separate registration that'll come later. Apologies for the oversight.
Detroit 20/20 has a snippet of tax auction info centered around a sad-looking house in Boston-Edison. We're currently in the midst of the first (and most boring) round, where properties have a minimum bid equal to their owed fines, back taxes, etc. In October, things go bananas as those back taxes are wiped away and minimum bids drop to $500.
