Tour the Metropolitan's Interior After 34 Years of Vacancy

Between hearts in the windows and medieval knights detailed near the roof, everything about the wedge-shaped exterior of the Metropolitan Building is unusual. Naturally, that makes one wonder what's inside. The DEGC isn't likely to hold an open house anytime soon, but these 2012 photos from Tony Barchock provide a glimpse of what's within. Remember, the Metropolitan—completed in 1925 as Detroit's jewelry hub—has been completely vacant since 1979. Read the complete history at Historic Detroit.
