Checking In: Belle Isle 9 Months After Becoming A State Park

In February Belle Isle became a run-down state park. Our February photo essay showed trash, over grown plants, and closed restrooms. So we sent our Curbed photographers back out to check out the scene nine months later and after five trips to the island, they captured scenes of opened bathrooms, tidy garbage areas, and road repavement. What's missing are photos that show very many people at all; we were told that attendance was down this year. While the Scott Fountain was opened over the summer it has now been drained again. Some grass mowers have clearly been very, very busy.
