Slattery Proposes Developing Long-Vacant Apartments

New, 6 comments

The developer of the Willy's Overland Lofts, Bob Slattery, appeared at a Historic District Commission hearing last night to get approval to renovate an apartment building on Alexandrine Street. Zillow indicates the building was bought in 2003 for $100,000. Slattery has been through bankruptcy and doubled down on it.

His Midtown Development Group Inc. filed for Chapter 11 two times in three years according to Crain's and the Willys Overland Lofts have many unbuilt units remaining. So skepticism that this renovation might really happen is warranted. But in theory what could happen is a total renovation of the building which will add front porches, rebuild the back of the building where it has collapsed, replace the windows, and add an exterior staircase in the back. The HDC approved the plans and ended the hearing as they typically do with a polite "good luck to you," that also sounds terse if you are in the right mood.
