The future is becoming clearer for the the worn-down Town Apartments tower, which was picked up by developer Triton Properties a few months ago. This winter, the building will undergo a $5M metamorphosis, emerging this spring with a new name: The Town Residences. How fancy! Upgrades will include a complete overhaul of more than 200 apartments, but those of us on the outside are told to look for two big changes: new windows and "new signage."
The old sign, a longtime staple of the western skyline, will join the David Whitney Building's letters in signage heaven. While there's no word on potential replacements, we do know rent will start around $700 for a studio and peak at $1,200 for a two-bedroom unit.
Also of note: Triton Properties also adds that the renovation of the Alden Park Towers will finish up early next year. That one started all the way back in 2013.
