The increasingly trendy 'hood of West Village officially has its own record shop. Specializing in new records from Michigan-based artists, Paramita Sound recently opened an old, previously-empty storefront inside a house built in 1895. The facade still needs a bit of work, but Paramita's gleaming interior space looks great.
Winners of the Activate:1417 Van Dyke competition held earlier this year, Paramita joins several other new businesses taking root in West Village, many of which are just across the street. Model D reports that the record shop is technically a pop-up and "community space", but hopes to remain open after its initial lease expires in January of next year.
