115 Cherry Blossom Trees Awarded to Beautify Belle Isle

New, 9 comments

Now that the Belle Isle bathroom situation is under control (thank goodness), the Michigan DNR issued a $150K grant towards a much prettier improvement for the island park. Volunteers will plant 115 cherry blossom trees in the area around Scott Fountain on Friday, helping to replace the old cherry trees felled by disease (these are a resistant variety) as well as 150+ "hazardous" trees removed earlier this year.
