Bagel Shop's Vacant Lot Will Become Corktown Farmers Market

New, 5 comments

The Detroit Institute of Bagels opened less than a year ago, but Corktown's carbohydrate capital is already expanding. Armed with a $40,000 grant from Hatch and the Detroit Lions, the shop plans to transform the empty lot next door into a "community event space" capable of hosting a farmers market. No details on what crazy amenities might be included (other than "landscaping"), but the rendering offers a few clues. Expect action on the project in 2015.
CORRECTION (2:08PM): Hatch clarified that the $40K was divided between multiple Hatch alumni businesses; not all went to this one project.
