UPDATE (4:30PM): The Wig has been cancelled. More info available here.

A DIY skatepark is growing at Wigle Recreation Center, a crumbling facility abandoned by the city in 2005. With permission from the Detroit Recreation Department, a group called Community Push has been working throughout the year to build a DIY skatepark on Wigle's old playground area.

After cleaning up nine years of accumulated trash and installing various skating elements, the group hopes to raise money for more obstacles, a shipping container for secure storage, public seating, and a splash of art.
