Downtown Detroit is known for becoming a ghost town after 5PM, when daytime workers head straight to their cars and businesses lock up. With seating for 1,000, Punch Bowl Social aims to fight back. Making its debut later tonight, PBS is a 28,000-square-foot clubhouse stuffed with food, liquor, and a wide variety of vintage diversions. Pinball, shuffleboard, and 8 lanes of bowling can be found within.
Punch Bowl feels like an appropriately weird tenant for the colorful Z-Lot, where it occupies the largest retail space. Detroit will be Punch Bowl's 4th location after Portland, Austin, and Denver. The interior actually looks better than the original renderings provided when it was announced in the spring. See for yourself tonight, when doors open to the public at 9PM.
