After more than 15 years of vacancy, there's no mistaking that the David Whitney Building has come back to life. After a $92M restoration, the Whitney's facade (including the new cornice) joined Detroit's nighttime skyline with a dazzling display of illumination this week. The Whitney is now officially open, and she should shine even brighter once occupants begin filling the 105 apartments and 136 hotel rooms within. Fun fact: the Whitney originally opened in January, 1915, almost exactly 100 years ago.
