Sherwood Forest will soon be illuminated by new nearly 100 new streetlights, but the replacement poles aren't the standard design being installed in most Detroit neighborhoods. In a quest to maintain Sherwood's historic aesthetic, the Sherwood Forest Association pushed for more expensive, "historically-styled" streetlights. A successful crowdfunding campaign earlier this year raked in $77K, more than enough to cover the added expense of the new lamps. The mayor will officially flip the switch in a ceremony later this afternoon.
