Neudeck Building Changes Name, Flirts With Fitness Center

New, 6 comments

We've known for a while that the Neudeck Building's upper levels will be converted into apartments, but last week's official announcement came with some new details about future tenants and a new building name. In a recent article from Crain's, building owner Joe Barbat claims "very well-known and established gym" has an interest in opening inside the ground floor retail space.

If true, it would be downtown's second new fitness center behind Anytime Fitness, which opened earlier this year at the Security Trust Lofts, another residential conversion.
Also in the works: a name change. The Neudeck building is technically the Philip J. Neudeck building, but Barbat has declared that the building will henceforth be known as The Philip House. We're not sure which one is more awkward.
