Enjoy a Bright, Wide Open Layout in this Lafayette Park Coop

New, 9 comments

Dreaming of life in Lafayette Park? Do consider Chateaufort. Built in 1963, this little coop community has an identity of its own, both in terms of architecture and amenities. It makes for an alluring alternative to the trendier coops across the Plaisance. This particular unit, #1518, just came onto the market with a reasonable $130K ask. Check out the backyard and basement sauna.

These units have a low profile, but there interior space is anything but compact. An estimated 3,000 square feet is stretched over this one's three bedrooms, three bathrooms (1 full, 2 half), and a finished basement. The windows are huge.

And the backyard. We've seen Chateaufort residents do wonderful things with those backyards, which aren't even necessary as the Dequindre Cut is across the street. During the winter, however, you might want to spend more time in the basement, where you'll find a cedar sauna inside a bathroom so dated that it might actually be trendy again.
