Rivertown Residential Development Shows First Signs of Life

New, 8 comments

Back in the sweaty days of summer, developers announced plans to build a $60M rainbow neighborhood in the empty Rivertown area, just east of the RenCen. Now, in the midst of Polar Vortex III, a tipster spotted what appears to be first sign of development on the empty lots near the Dequindre Cut.
This, ladies and gents, is a drilling rig, spotted this morning by a tipster in the vicinity of Franklin and Atwater. Like the drilling trucks that were lurking around the arena site on Woodward, this one is probably doing the inglorious work of drilling core samples for environmental testing before construction can begin.

There haven't been any updates on the project since it was initially announced, but its neighbors—the Globe Building and the Dequindre Cut—have both changed dramatically.
