Corktown's MegaLoft is back on the market. Last summer, anyone could've bagged the 6,000-square-foot dream space for a paltry $399K. Probably less, considering it had languished on the market for over a year. That window has since closed, both figuratively and literally. MegaLoft's return to the market comes with some window-based improvements and an insane new ask: $600K.
Why the huge jump in price? Over the winter, MegaLoft was equipped with a new HVAC system and interior storm windows. The Sixth Street Lofts building is among Detroit's oldest loft conversions, and its factory windows from the 1920s remain in place. All those windows look dreamy, but the energy bills were rumored to be unspeakably high. According to the listing, the new storm windows/HVAC system will bring in "huge savings."
Another interesting discovery: MegaLoft was on HGTV! Back in 2004, the loft featured on an episode of Designers' Challenge, which explains the origins of that elevated corner platform and several of the fixtures. It does not, however, explain the lack of privacy offered by the glass block bathroom.
