Approved: Eighty Apartments to Rise Above Downtown Garage

New, 20 comments

A stack of apartments planned atop a downtown parking garage were today given the go-ahead by the Downtown Development Authority. Known as The Griswold, the five-story addition would contain an impressive 80 units. "The one, two and three-bedroom apartments will average 916 square feet and feature nine-foot-high ceilings, floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows and balconies on several units," said a press release from the Roxbury Group, which owns the air rights above the garage. The project originated in 2006, when the DEGC built the garage with the ability to add a five-story addition up top. That plan was nipped by the recession. The latest incarnation has a more modern design (the original rendering is on our previous post) and will end up costing $22M.
