The Wurltizer Building has again proven itself to be one of Detroit's unluckiest ruins. The Detroit News reports that the Wurlitzer's would-be buyers mysteriously backed out of the deal months ago, giving no explanation. That's surprising news—the would-be buyers seemed up to the task, counting among their ranks a company specializing in historic redevelopment projects. They even signed a purchase agreement.
It's unclear where that leaves the brick-hurling Wurlitzer. The News quotes a specialist from Kraemer Design Group, who estimates the project to be an $8-$10M rehab. Considering the location and potential, that price would seem relatively affordable.
