The Public Lighting Authority of Detroit has installed over 3,200 LED streetlights in the city's two demonstration areas, located on the city's east and west sides. According to the Detroit News, the new LEDs are more 2x brighter than the high-pressure sodium lights of old. The PLA is scheduled to install 50,000 new LED across Detroit by the end of 2015.
