Inside the Auction-Bound Homes of East English Village

New, 15 comments

The city's plan to cheaply auction off vacant homes has clearly resonated beyond Detroit. Over 1,000 people descended upon East English Village yesterday afternoon for a tour of the twelve properties. Families wandered the sidewalks between open houses, mingling with residents happy to show off their neighborhood.
Every auction property seemed to contain a dozen people peering into closets and basements, figuring out exactly what needed to be fixed.
