Historic Duplex Sheds Junky Shingles, Exposes Wood Facade

New, 7 comments

Earlier this year, the Villages CDC announced an ambitious upgrade plan for West Village, which involved the total rehab of 5 blighted houses. This huge duplex is one of them. Previously coated in junky asphalt shingles, the house recently enjoyed a facade facial.

The original wood facade was hiding under that faux-brick, and it looks pretty intact. Also torn off: the two rear porches, both of which were sagging dangerously. The new look isn't exactly welcoming, but it's a landmark on the long road to becoming livable once more.
