First Hot Day in Detroit Melts Housing Projects Like Ice

New, 7 comments

At long last, today it is hot in Detroit for the first time in 2014, and the shining sun reveals that the Brewster Housing projects are melting like ice. Two towers remain largely intact, while the third is barely hanging in there while it is hosed down and slowly chipped away. A chain-link fence encircles the demolition site for several blocks around Brush Park. Pour one out for number 10 on our fireworks viewing map a la 2012. The four taller towers were 15-stories each; the entire demo of the complex was estimated at $6.5M.
