Detroit's Pewabic Pottery Will Soon Produce a Beer Tankard

New, 9 comments

In a perfect fusion of Detroit architecture and Michigan beer, Pewabic Pottery just announced the production of a beer tankard. According to a press release, the tankards will be "undeniably Pewabic in appearance," and promises to "enhance the drinking experience." Founded in 1903, the Detroit-based studio is known for its shimmery, iridescent glazes.
It gets better: This weekend, Pewabic Pottery will host a fund-raising biergarten.

The Pewabic studio will double as a biergarten this weekend, raising money through $5 pints of beer donated from just about every Michigan brewer there is. The tankards were commissioned by Windmill Point Brewing Company, the "pedal-powered" brewery aspiring to open in Eastern Market. Grabbing your own tankard means pre-ordering through Windmill Pointe at the biergarten. (More info will be posted as it's made available to us.)
Biergarten Hours: Saturday, June 7 from noon – 5pm & Sunday June 8 from noon – 4pm.
Location: Pewabic Studio, 10125 E Jefferson Ave in Detroit
