El Dorado General Store, a new vintage shop in Corktown, is now open to the public. Stuffed with "one-of-a-kind trinkets and treasures," El Dorado adds a drop of retail to a strip of Michigan Avenue dominated by bars and restaurants.

Founder Erin Gavle describes the inventory as "carefully curated." The goods come from resale shops across the county, which Gavle visited during a meandering road trip from California to Michigan. The most vintage thing about El Dorado might be the building itself. Records indicate it was built in 1900.
