Gameday Detroit's New Building Honors Old Red Wings Arena

Look! An entire building has sprung from what used to be downtown's tiniest construction site. The project has kept a low profile since work began in the spring, when our only intel was that Gameday Detroit, a local sports apparel chain, was somehow involved.
The building we have today is pleasantly surprising, with a much classier design than you might expect from a single retail building. As it turns out, the unique architecture is a small tribute to a structure demolished decades ago.

We weren't able to get a progress update from Ferlito Construction, but things are likely to move along quickly. The building is a block away from Ford Field, so we're guessing that Gameday Detroit is planning to be ready for the Lions' season opener in early September.
