Matty Moroun's Plans To Buy A High School Are Dead

New, 4 comments

Unpleasant billionaire/bridge owner/crumbly train station enthusiast Matty Moroun is not getting Southwestern High School, according to an email sent yesterday indicating the school is back on the market. The Freep reported back in March that Moroun was willing to plunk down $1.2M for the 16.1 acre site which was only appraised for $890,000 in 2012. It seemed to most that it was a clear attempt to try and control more land near where Michigan has proposed building a public bridge to Canada that would compete with the private span that Matty owns.
Below is the email we were forwarded. We're not sure if the excessive exclamation points are a comment on Matty's plans falling through or an act of desperation from and organization trying to dump a building that has been closed since 2012 and damaged by vandals and fire. Perhaps it is both.
