The owners of one of the most amazing properties in the Wayne County tax auction had no idea the property was in the auction, according to the Detroit News. See what happens when you don't read Curbed, people? Nothing good! Also: pay your taxes. In a effort to avert this disaster the owners, the Detroit Medical Society, sent a certified check for $3,800 on to Wayne County on Monday but the Treasurer has said it is too late and unfair to bidders to pull it from the auction now. DMS says that they have put $400,000 into the building since buying it for $3,000 in 1978.
UPDATE: September 18. It seems the online bidding may have been cancelled.
