We've been running this rendering and talking about the promise of shipping container condos since 2012, so take this announcement with two grains of salt. The company behind Corktown's planned shipping container development now says they have bought land west of the Tiger Stadium site and will start building "soon." The developers explain that they previously had another location in mind last April but the deal fell through.
Recognize this image? It is actually a reboot of a building planned in 2008 that did not pan out thanks to the economic shitshow troubles that year. The current company wanting to build them, Three Squared, Inc., does not have permits yet but their website says they will start construction in 2014.
