Two Proposals for "The Corner" On The Tiger Stadium Site

New, 4 comments

The Majority of Tiger Stadium will remain a ball field, for now, but the city is looking to develop two lots on the site. Those two face Trumbull Ave and Michigan Ave. One of the developers, The Roxbury group—known for the David Whitney Hotel and apartments— proposes construction of 180 apartments as well as retail space with two large anchor tenants and an additional 6,000 square feet of "neighborhood retail space." The other finalist, from Bloomfield Hills-based Larson Realty Group LLC, has only said that their proposal will have "a series of neighborhood-style retail and residential."

Tiger Stadium was demolished in 2009, but long before that developers have had proposals for it. The Detroit Economic Development Corp. is in charge of the site and sent out the call for proposals last March. They have not revealed a timeline for development.
